It pays to be positive: 'Changing Market' newsletter template

In a down market, potential sellers are attracted to agents who have a positive mindset.

I wrote about this a while back in an Agent Advice guide that is worth re-visiting if you are struggling to maintain your positive energy in the current environment:

To succeed in real estate, embrace a positive mindset
if you want to grow (or maintain) your business and become a magnet for referrals, it’s so important that all your interactions with members of the public are positive.

Sellers want to list with the salesperson who believes that the market is starting to improve. I would argue that it's essential to maintain this outlook at all times, because at some point you will be proven right. It's simply a matter of time. You might as well stay positive and attract a whole lot of great business while you are waiting!

Using positivity to generate listings

Once you have embraced a positive mindset, it's time to share that outlook with the world to start bringing in listings.

Step 1. Send a printed newsletter to all your past clients and past appraisals to let them know the market is changing. Scroll down for a template.

Step 2. Use the same template text in your next email newsletter to share the same message.

Step 3. While you are at it, drop your 'market is changing' update letter around your farming area.

Step 4. Heck, now we're on a roll. Hand out copies of your newsletter at your open homes / attach it to all property flyers.

Step 5. Why not post it on social media, too.

The Market is changing

It’s no secret that the real estate market has been flat for some time. Houses have been challenging to sell, finance hard to come by and we’ve seen a surplus of properties for buyers to choose from. 

However, when you dig deeper, signs of life are shining through. Interest rates are falling and banks are becoming more interested in lending money. Right now we are witnessing a noticeable uptick in buyer urgency as smart purchasers realise now is the time to jump in before prices start rising.

Now is the time

If you’ve been waiting for the market to improve before taking action, this is your chance. There is still time to be in your new home for Christmas, but you need to act quickly. The current uptick in activity means finding a buyer for your existing property is much easier. Meanwhile, there are still plenty of houses available so it’s a great time to find your next dream home. You can still make conditional offers and you might even get the chance to negotiate one-on-one.

It’s always tempting to wait until a market shift is fully underway before taking the leap, but in our experience, the hotter the market, the harder it is to move up. Right now there is a window available where you get the best of both worlds.

The easiest and quickest way to get your newsletter out would simply be to print the template text above as a standard letter on your company letterhead. Add your details at the bottom or staple your business card to the page and you are good to go. If you want to add some colour - attach it to a page of recent sales by you or your office.
